Peer Review

Peer Review

Whenever you start any type of project, task, or assignment one of the most beneficial things you can do is review other examples of the work to better gauge the direction you want take. Understanding the importance of seeking out input from others, getting different perspective, and collaborating with a variety of people, all facilitate you maximizing your creative abilities. Through review of my peer’s ePortfolios, I was able to disconnect from a single-track mentality, which was my own perspective and appreciate the creative perspectives that I had all around me, from my peers. The mine insight I got from the review of classmate’s eportfolios was the abundance of artistic designs that could be used to complete change the very message and tone of one’s portfolio. “Your perspective is valid, and it matters, but it is limited by your own experience. There’s no way around this fact, and it’s true for everyone. Our egos would like us to believe that we have all the answers, or that our way is the best way” (Fierce, 2021, para. 10).

Feedback

To acknowledge and accept that others have ideas and knowledge that could very well help you is not always the easiest thing except, especially when it is coming from your pers. “Receiving feedback helps develop key skills, such as critical thinking and reflection, communication, self-motivation and time management. It also allows us to be able to give constructive feedback to others, therefore helping them improve” (Smith, 2015, para. 2). Acquiring feedback from our peers doesn’t necessarily mean there something wrong, feedback could be all positive, all negative, or a mixture of both. The key to maximizing the benefits of feedback is all about perspective. During this course, we received multiple opportunities to give and receive feedback and the benefits I got from the feedback was enormous for my confidence, as well as my overall work. My peers have been totally amazing throughout our peer review process, not hesitating to give suggestions or point out errors but also, always uplifting and encouraging each other.

Exploring

The process of navigating through the development stage of building a ePortfolio has been nothing short of incredible. In the last few weeks, I have really been able to expand my creative learning skills, with the assistance of some of my peers, I’ve truly been able to make the eportfolio my own. With so many design options to along with abundance of information you want to relay, sometime things can feel a little congested, however throughout the course it has been emphasized to show more, say less. My greatest joy and toughest challenge has been navigating the balance between informing and connecting with my targeted audience and I’m all the better because of such a challenge.
