To achieve the equipping of all special need classes Pre-K through 5th grade in the Fort Bend School district with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices by the end of 2025.
Act on The Lead Measures
The lead measures will consist of a specialized summer school program, consisting of a curriculum that aligns with the use and productivity of an AAC device.
Keep a Compelling Scoreboard
The results of test grades and student/teacher feedback at the end of the summer course will be relayed to the school district administrators, educators, and parents.
Create a Cadence of Accountability
To ensure object cadence and accountability, weekly meeting will be held throughout the summer course with administrators, educators, and parents. The main focus of the meetings will be discussions on progress, obstacles, and any collaborative solutions that can be implemented.
The Role of the Five Stages
Throughout the journey of implementing the 4DX into the organization, change will and must happened. The five stages of change take us through those different aspects of change an organization goes through when attempting to take on a one team one fight objective mindset. In majority of situations this responsibility falls upon the leader, but like many team entities, managing and motivating a plethora of different personalities is never an easy task. However, as the five stages shows us, incorporating your entire team in organization goal, greatly serves to benefit all involved.
- Getting Clear- with the established WIG, all organization personnel has one clear objective as well as measures and a scoreboard to fully focus on.
- Launch- This incorporates the establishment and start of the summer class course. Although everyone has role in this process, I will front and center ensuring that each team member is confident and fully prepared in their assigned role.
- Adoption- With the launch of the AAC initiative in full stride, I fully expect team members to be receiving outstanding feedback from our program participants as well as from our organization team meetings, fueling individual and organization motivation towards our WIG.
- Optimization- With the feedback received throughout the summer course it is the organization’s plan to utilize the feedback and positive results to secure resources and funding towards expansion for the full school year.
- Habits- With the results and success of the initial program launch, our team members and organization as a whole would have built a culture and a believe in our mission that will only become stronger as our advocacy mission continues to grow in the support of young learner’s educational journey.
The Influencer Model and 4DX
“The four disciplines exist solely for the purpose of helping an organization execute on its goals in the midst of the whirlwind” (McChesney, 2020). To deal with chaos of the whirlwind, the four DX encourages us to: focus on a singular wildly goal, lead measures, maintain a clear scoreboard, and finally keep a cadence of accountability. Collectively utilizing these four recommendations allows organizations to highlight the most important goals to fucus their energy on, instill useful and viable habits that directly relate to success of said goals, track the progress to emphasis the ability of the team to succeed, and finally hold everyone accountable. Incorporating these habits helps the entire team feel connected and equally important to the overall success of the organizational goals. “People perform best when they are emotionally engaged” (McChesney, 2017). While the 4DX main focus centers around actions to better serve and organization, the influencer model targets the things that make the individual and or team tick. “Skilled influencers know how to build personal motivation to get people to care. They link new behaviors to values people already have. They find ways to invest new behaviors with meaning and drive home human consequences” (Grenny, etal. 2013). This is how the influencer model truly complements the 4DX, it allows leaders to access the hearts and minds of their team members to change their outlook of what’s being asked of them. Its one thing to have a team that buys in to what you are telling them to do, incorporating both the influence model and the 4DX, allows organization leaders to get their team to buy into the what, the how, and more importantly the why.
